Orthodontics is a branch of dentistry dealing with the treatment of malocclusion in children and adults. In addition to improving the appearance and well-being of the patient, properly conducted orthodontic treatment facilitates caring for oral hygiene, which in turn leads to a reduction in the number of cavities and an improvement in the condition of the dentition. In addition, dental treatment can eliminate some speech impediments, as well as pain associated with dysfunction of the temporomandibular joints and delay the aging process of the face.

In the case of adult patients with missing teeth, orthodontics allows to improve the bite, which allows for subsequent prosthetic or implantological treatment. In children, orthodontic treatment allows to eliminate malocclusion and the resulting abnormalities – speech defects, caries, and disorders of the facial skeleton.

Orthodontics uses orthodontic appliances to treat malocclusion. Depending on the malocclusion and the patient’s age, the doctor may recommend choosing a fixed or removable appliance. Removable appliances are intended mainly for children who started treatment in the period of mixed dentition. In some cases, removable appliances can also be used in adult patients, who are more often recommended, however, much more effective fixed appliances.

We offer a wide selection of fixed appliances:

  • porcelain
  • metal
  • crystal
  • overlay (Invisalign, Clear Aligner, PRO SMILE)

They differ with the locks that can be made of the aforementioned materials, and consequently they are more or less visible. We also offer non-ligature devices that allow you to achieve a better effect in an even shorter time. Each time the choice of apparatus depends on the patient’s expectations and his financial capabilities.

Orthodontics – step by step treatment:

  1. 1
  2. 2
  3. 3
  4. 4

Step one

The first stage of treatment in our office is a consultation with a specialist, during which the doctor conducts an interview on the patient’s expectations and needs related to orthodontic treatment. Then, diagnostic tests are carried out, after which the orthodontist presents an individual treatment plan, taking into account its costs, duration and course.

Step two

The second stage is related to starting treatment and putting on the appliance. During this visit, the doctor places an apparatus on the patient and gives instructions on how to use it.

Third step

Follow-up visits are the next visits. Patients with removable appliances come for control visits every 2-4 months on average. In the case of patients with fixed appliances, this period is shorter and ranges from 4 to 6 weeks.

Fourth step

The treatment ends when the desired effect is achieved. In the case of permanent braces, after the end of the proper treatment, retention treatment is started, which is to maintain the target tooth position and prevent recurrence of the defect.
