Up to 12% of the population suffers from chronic ailments due to dysfunction of the temporomandibular joint. Lock-jaws, crackling, “clicking” while chewing food, migraines, earaches, tooth hypersensitivity – these are just some of the effects of untreated disorders. Regular dental physiotherapy is a prescription for all these ailments. It takes care of the proper work of the masticatory muscles, the placement of the articular disc and the entire joint. Find out more about that.
DENTAL REHABILITATION / DENTAL PHYSIOTHERAPY
During the visit, the physiotherapist conducts a detailed interview and functional examination of the craniofacial area – movement analysis and searching for the causes of the symptoms reported by the patient. These can be different:
- overloaded masticatory system (caused, for example, by the habit of chewing gum),
- wearing braces,
- tooth extraction,
- surgical procedures within the temporomandibular joint,
- bruxism.
Accurate recognition of the source of the problem allows for effective intervention consisting in restoring balance within the muscles that operate the chewing apparatus and programming movement in the joints. Each patient receives a set of exercises and recommendations individually selected for his needs.

FAQ
WHAT ARE THE PRICES OF THE ABOVE MENTIONED SERVICES?
The cost of one visit (60 minutes) is 200 PLN. The price of the visit includes diagnostics, masticatory system therapy and home recommendations aimed at optimizing the treatment process. The number of visits and their frequency depends on the individual assessment of the case.
HOW DO I KNOW WHEATHER I HAVE TEMPOROMANDIBILITY DISORDERS?
You know it if you answer “yes” to one of the following questions:
1) Do you feel discomfort in the ear area when eating/speaking/yawning?
2) Have you ever had trouble opening or closing your mouth?
3) Do you get headaches/migraines regularly?
4) Do you clench your teeth instinctively during the day or at night?
IS IT POSSIBLE THAT AN UNTREATED TEMPORAL PROBLEM WILL GET WORSE?
Yes. The temporomandibular joints are in a mutual relationship due to a single mandible (commonly referred to by patients as the "lower jaw"), and their symmetrical work is extremely important. Imbalance causes uneven distribution of loads, leads to the destruction of these joints and deformation of the articular disc, which in the long run may result in irreversible degenerative changes.
IS CLUTCHING THE TEETH DURING THE DAY OR NIGHT REASON WHY I SHOULD GO ON A CONSULTATION?
Yes, the increased activity of the masticatory muscles, i.e. those that we use when biting, increases the pressure in the temporomandibular joints. This can lead to their dysfunction.
