Whitening is a chemical process in which undesirable tooth color is removed by oxidizing the molecules responsible for discoloration.
There are 2 basic types of teeth whitening: tray-based whitening and faster, in-office whitening.

TRAY-BASED WHITENING

Tray-based whitening is carried out by the patient at home. Patient on his own chooses time of the day when the whitening will be performed.
The first step of preparing patient for whitening is taking impressions in order to make special, individual splints in the prosthetic laboratory. After making splints and checking whether they fit perfectly to the patient’s teeth, doctor gives the patient those splints, whitening gel and detailed instructions on how to use them. Doctor supervises the whitening effect during the follow-up visit, which is planned immediately after the end of home whitening.

IN-OFFICE WHITENING

Professional in-office whitening is one of the most popular cosmetic procedures in modern dentistry.
This kind of whitening is performed during single visit. It is possible thanks to the use of the latest technology that uses blue light. It activates the whitening gel, which accelerates the oxidation process, that means, the process responsible for the whitening effect. The procedure usually takes about 60-90 minutes.

IN-OFFICE WHITENING "BLANC ONE CLICK”

This is an in-office whitening method lasting only 10 minutes, which can and even should be combined with a hygiene treatment. After removing tartar and plaque, BlancOne gel is applied to the teeth. It is then irradiated for 10 minutes with a dedicated lamp dedicated.

CAN I CHOOSE THE TARGET COLOR, THAT I WANT TO OBTAIN?

Teeth whitening effects are an individual matter and it is difficult to predict by how many tones exactly they will get whitened. On the other hand, the effects are always visible.

DO TEETH NEED TO BE PREPARED BEFORE THE WHITENING?

Before the whitening procedure, it is necessary to perform hygienization at the appropriate time interval, and after that an oral examination performed by a dentist.

CAN VENEERS AND CROWNS BE WHITENED?

Porcelain restorations and composite fillings will not get whitened. We can only whiten teeth with their own enamel.

WHAT ARE THE MOST COMMON CAUSES OF TOOTH DISCOLORATION?

Causes of tooth discoloration:
- Lack of proper oral hygiene,
- avoiding follow-up visits to the dentist,
- accumulated tartar, plaque and caries,
- smoking,
- diet - products that strongly colors tooth enamel like coffee, tea, red wine and some fruits,
- medications (hypertension, allergies, ischaemic heart disease) and antibiotics

Any food that is not white or colorless can potentially destroy the effects of whitening. Products, which should be avoided are:
- Colorful, coloring spices: curcuma, paprika, curry,
- red meat and dark fish meat,
- dark sauces: soy sauce, wine vinegar, balsamic vinegar, roasting sauces,
- citrus and all acidic foods: lemons, oranges, kiwis, grapefruit, plums, peaches, apples, sauerkraut, pickled cucumbers, all pickled products,
- colored vegetables: spinach, carrots, peppers, tomatoes, beets, pumpkin,
- colored fruits: blueberries, blackberries, raspberries, strawberries,
- chocolate,
- artificially colored foods: all sweets, candies, gummies, etc.

WHAT ARE THE CONTRAINDICATIONS FOR TEETH WHITENING?

Teeth whitening methods are diverse, but not everyone can afford them. They are not recommended for people who:
- are under 16 years old,
- are pregnant or during lactation,
- have tooth hypersensitivity and allergy to the whitening products,
- have gum disease, enamel damage and exposed tooth roots,
- have fillings, crowns and other dental restorations,
- have dark stained teeth

HOW OFTEN TEETH WHITENING SHOULD BE REPEATED?

The effect depends on the individual enamel reactivity to the whitening preparation, and durability depends on the patient's hygiene and dietary habits.
