Treatment of pregnant women

You are here:

Home page » Our Offer » Treatment of pregnant women

For a woman, the period of pregnancy is a very important moment in life. She then needs careful dental care, because the health of the oral cavity has a huge impact on the course of pregnancy. If you plan to enlarge your family, take particular care of the condition of your teeth. During pregnancy, a woman’s body is exposed to particular hormonal fluctuations, which, unfortunately, affect the health of her teeth and the entire oral cavity.

The most common complaints are:

  • increasing caries changes
  • periodontal disease
  • increased tooth mobility
  • gum sensitivity to pain and bleeding
  • bad smell from the mouth

A woman should visit her dentist regularly before pregnancy, and about 2-3 times during pregnancy.

Treatments don’t have to be painful or stressful. However, the woman should inform the doctor that she is pregnant, as X-ray images cannot be taken during this period.

1

The gums become swollen

During pregnancy, gums become swollen and may bleed more frequently. While brushing their teeth, women experience slight gum pain, begin to brush their teeth more gently and, unfortunately, less carefully.

2

Oral hygiene

The above factors are also the result of neglect of oral hygiene, increased appetite, frequent eating and continuous eating of sweet or sour products. This especially affects the development of caries. It is also associated with acidic saliva during pregnancy and damage to the enamel due to vomiting.

3

Anesthesia for future mothers

The doctor will be able to assess the condition of the teeth on an ongoing basis and will decide which treatments should be performed during pregnancy and which can be waited for. Women should not worry about the treatment because there are no contraindications for the use of local anesthetics in the future mother.

According to the research of scientists, untreated inflammation and dental diseases increase the risk of premature birth up to seven times!
