Scaling is a procedure of removing the tartar. The accumulation of dental deposits is very harmful for health of the oral cavity as well as the entire body. Scaling is performed using ultrasonic devices, the so-called scalers. They work by emitting vibrations and high frequencies that are transmitted to the teeth, breaking up tartar. Then it is rinsed with water. To prevent the re-deposition of plaque, the surfaces of the teeth are polished with toothbrushes, pastes or rubbers providing a pleasant smooth feeling.

Sandblasting is a procedure to remove deposits and discoloration. Its name derives from a special dental sand. It is suspended in a liquid solution that is sprayed onto the enamel surface under high pressure. The treatment is safe for the enamel and completely painless.
Sandblasting is often a supplementation to scaling, as it cleans interdental spaces very well. That is, such crevices which no other tool or brush can reach. Each sandblasting procedure ends with polishing all cleaned tooth surfaces

The next stage of dental hygiene is polishing. This treatment involves thorough polishing of all teeth using a special paste with cleansing properties. Thanks to this, the risk of easy deposition of tartar is minimized. Then the teeth are polished with special rubbers and brushes which clean the interdental spaces. It is a short and completely painless procedure.

The final stage of oral hygiene is tooth varnishing – in other words fluoridation. It involves covering the teeth with a special varnish containing fluoride. The treatment is performed using a special brush or foam spoons. The preparation remains on the teeth for a longer time, which allows for the gradual release of fluoride. Teeth varnishing is intended to prevent the development of caries.

Sealing is a procedure aimed at protecting the tooth fissures against the formation of caries. The anatomical structure of the tooth causes plaque to accumulate in the cavities of the enamel, which is difficult to clean. Covering the teeth with sealant prevents the accumulation of bacterial plaque while facilitating the cleaning of their surface.

After the examination, the hygienist individually selects the appropriate tooth brushing technique. It is adjusted to patient’s needs, the condition of his teeth and periodontium. The patient also learns how to properly clean interdental spaces with dental floss or interdental brushes, and learns how to take care of tongue hygiene.
